Unforgettable Boat Excursions Along Calabria’s Most Breathtaking Coastline

Cruising the Coast of the Gods Boats move across vibrant blue water in front of massive grey rocky cliffs. Several people are visible on the boats, some under canopies. Capo Vaticano, on the Costa degli Dei, is best viewed from the water. Arriving by sailboat, the ancient Greeks were staggered by Costa degli Dei’s beauty. The best way to appreciate this coastline remains from the sea. Pontus and I headed to the Port of Tropea, catching the Costa degli Dei Tours boat, captained by a pair of wisecracking brothers. They navigated our mostly Italian group along the mesmerizing waters and jutting cliffs bristling with Mediterranean scrub, pointing out caves and sandy coves linked to legend. As the boat dropped anchor by Riace and Praia i Focu — Platonic ideals of Mediterranean beaches — everyone on the boat cannonballed, dived or jumped into the turquoise sea. Boat tours along the Costa degli Dei often include swimming breaks. Back on the boat, the brothers served aperitivo: bruschetta and a plastic cup of white wine. With Calabrese folk music playing, one brother took me by the hand and led me through my poor impression of tarantella. A more informed pair demonstrated, and our boat-mates burst into applause. Pretty festive for 11:30 in the morning. Tropea, Ravishing and Touristy Light-colored buildings rise from a tall, rocky cliff above blue water. Below, a beach is crowded with people and colorful umbrellas. In Tropea, 17th- and 18th-century villas overlook the sea. We docked back in Tropea, a town so ancient that its origins are shrouded in legend: Its purported founder is Hercules. The centuries-old Santa Maria dell’Isola sanctuary is Tropea’s awe-inspiring landmark, a striped church enthroned atop a promontory in the sea, beaches flanking either side.

Boat took us from Tropea to Capo Vaticano, the water is so pure and you swim with the fish 🐠 you do snorkelling and swim in Grotta, just a fabulous experience!

7 hours snorkelling around the coast was amazing. Staff, meals and drinks including local vine were beyond expectations. I recommend for all tourists and locals! One guy of the staff spoke good English and was very friendly!

Amazing sights. We as a family grandparents daughter and granddaughter loved every minute aboard this lovely boat. Can't wait to do it again would highly recommend this trip value for money.
